Mahogany easy chair with serpentine crest; serpentine seat rail with foliage carving; cabriole legs with carved knees and hairy paw feet. The first image depicts the chair before it was reupholstered; the second image depicts the current floral brocade upholstery.

Apprenticed as a cabinetmaker in Edinburgh and London, Thomas Affleck emigrated to Philadelphia in 1763. His clients included wealthy Philadelphians, some of them fellow Quakers.
